Monica Shriver, Woodwinds (flute, saxophone, clarinet)
Monica Shriver has enjoyed a diverse and creative career performing in a wide variety of musical settings for over 20 years. A professional musician, composer & arranger and instructor based out of Phoenix, AZ, Monica has played in big bands, jazz combos, pit orchestras, rock bands, chamber ensembles, and orchestras. Monica regularly performs on all the saxophones, flute and piccolo, clarinet and bass clarinet and is currently working on her electric bass chops.
Monica graduated with BA in Music from Arizona State University in 2003, where she studied classical flute with Liz Buck and Jazz with Chuck Marohnic, Mike Crotty, Dwight Killian, and other fantastic musicians and teachers. Prior to attending ASU, Monica spent time at Northern Arizona University where she studied classical saxophone under Wildy Zumwalt and Jazz under Pete Vivona.
Monica is an active member of AFM Local 586 – American Federation of Musicians – Arizona, the North American Saxophone Alliance and the Jazz Education Network. She has had an active and successful private studio for over 14 years and has taught Saxophone, Clarinet, Bassoon sectionals and directed Jazz Band at Arizona School for the Arts, a college-prep arts charter school, for the last 6 years.
